Did the Old Witch Not Get Enough Sleep?

This week I've been pondering about the topic of sleep.
My musing led me to discover how the lack of sleep can affect us on some many levels.
Most of us encounter lack of sleep at some time or another for a variety of reason but what really happens to us when we get the right sleep.
I'm not referring to the occasional night of sleeplessness but the chronic burning the candle at both ends.
My question how does it affect our aging process?
I'm sitting here at the computer and I'm reminded of the fables of old about the witch and the beautiful princesses.
I wonder if those cantankerous old witches were so scared and worried over everything they lost sleep over it and hence they became wrinkled and dried up looking.
Did they lose their vitality due to lack of sleep? I would say so.
See if you might come to the same conclusion.

There are amazing reasons why we need sleep.
Not enough sleep worsens existing skin conditions
Not enough sleep detracts from your skin's natural beauty
Not enough sleep makes immune-related skin problems worse
Not enough sleep results in less beauty
Not enough sleep accelerates the aging process
Not enough sleep contributes to weight gain

Sleep Your Way to Better Skin and Hair
There are set times when our body clock dictates that various processes take place in hair and skin.

What Happens While You Sleep

From 8pm to 11pm is the time for hydration and stimulation,
While 11pm to 3am is the time for nutrition and regeneration,
From 3am to 5am is the time for resting.'
Of course, very few adults are in bed at 8pm and, as the hormone that triggers sleep - melatonin - peaks at around 11pm, this is the time we should naturally get tired.
Seven or eight hours of sleep are ideal for most of us. More than that can mean we wake up looking puffy and feeling sluggish.
Chronic lack of sleep, or poor-quality sleep, has an incredibly negative effect on the way we feel - and on the way we look.
Cellular renewal of our skin is fastest at night, and this is why we are told night-creams can work wonders.

But the fact is, nothing will help our looks if we don't get the quality of sleep we need.
While sleeping, levels of adrenaline and corticosteroids drop and the body starts to produce growth hormone.
This is when the repair and growth processes kick in.

The following may help:
Go to bed at a regular time.
Set the alarm for the same time each day - even weekends - to develop a regular sleep-wake rhythm.
Make sure the bedroom is dark.
Start and each day with great skin care products as well.
